Love – The Water Of Life & The Recipe Of Being!

Love is a universal force that transcends time, culture, and geography. “Love” we all speak about it. Many artists, poets, writers, ancient philosophers, great leaders have been depicting this subject in multiple languages in different time periods. It is an intrinsic part of the human experience, shaping our lives in profound ways. “Love is the water of life and a lover is a soul of fire” poetically describes Rumi in the book “The Forty Rules of Love”

Our childhood was taken over by watching romantic Bollywood movies like kuch kuch hota hai, Jab we met, etc & the famous dialogue so rightly said by the romance king Shahrukh khan “Pyaar dosti hai” is stuck with us even today. In the generation of finding love by right swipe, a lot of young kids, adults, millennials, Genz’s are so hungry for love that they are accepting substitutes. They are embracing material things and expecting a hug back. No amount of playing video games, trips to mountains or beaches, indulging in alcohol, going shopping spree, overworking, money, gobbling up a new car or property or a latest toy, fame, status, power, intense workouts or bodybuilding, right swiping, dating, emotional or stress eating can act as a substitute for Love, it never works. Material possessions, achievements, and superficial relationships cannot fill the void left by the absence of genuine, heartfelt love. Ultimately, you can not substitute material things for love or gentleness or tenderness for the sense of comradeship – because love is the very essence and purpose of life.

Understanding The Essence of True Love – Beyond the Superficial

True Love is more than a fleeting emotion, it’s the way of life and the most important recipe of our being. It is a deep, abiding divine connection that goes beyond the superficial to touch the core of our soul. The eternal love story of Lord Shiva and Parvati is described as “ShivShakti” – two halves of the same soul, “Ardhanareshwar” symbolizing the equal and ultimate balance of masculine and the feminine energies to become whole. It is not two people longing to meet, it is two dimensions of life longing for divine union – outside as well as inside.

As the quote reads, “Love understands love; it requires no talking” connotes love is unconditional and eternal surpasses time and space. It is believed that love is so strong that individuals in love can sense each other’s thoughts and emotions without verbal communication. A love so deep & intuitive that goes beyond physical attraction and emotional bonds. In the book “Tuesdays with Morrie” Morrie narrates a poem he believed in like a prayer: “Love each other or perish” & how true these words can be. One of my favorite lines from a Punjabi movie outlining love beautifully…

“Bulleh Shah Zehr Vaikh Ke Pita Te Ki Pita
Ishq Soch Ke Kita Te Ki Kita
Dil De Ke Dil Lain Di Aas Rakhi We Bulleya
Pyar vi lalach naal Kita Te Ki Kita”

meaning of these Punjabi verses is.. what is the use of it, if you drink poison by seeing it? What is the use of it, if you love with calculation? Hoping to trade a heart for a heart? What is the use of it, if love is driven by greed?” True love is unconditional, selfless, and enduring. Embracing true love in all its forms is the key to a life of meaning, joy, and connection.

Patience & Perseverance – The Journey of True Love

True love is often depicted as a magical, effortless connection between two souls. It is not a fairy tale, but a journey embarked by patience, waiting, and perseverance which perfectly correlates to the lyrics of my all time favorite song “Thousand years” by Christina Perri.

“I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling, don’t be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I’ll love you for a thousand more..”

It involves waiting for the right time & moments, understanding each other’s flaws, and growing together. Patience is a cornerstone of true love. In a world that often demands instant gratification, true love requires us to slow down and embrace the process of building a lasting relationship. While the journey of true love is challenging, the rewards are immeasurable, offering a profound sense of fulfillment and a bond that withstands the test of time with the permanent union of two souls in this lifetime and beyond

“Choose love, love! Without the sweet life of love, living is a burden” – Rumi
